While it is possible to reduce the current to save energy, any deviation of more than 10% can disrupt the halogen cycle in the lamp, resulting in a significant reduction in expected lifetime.
The following rules shall apply to use NARVA airfield lamps properly:

• Continuous operation
• when turning on, upshift gradually and not directly on full power
• switching on and off as little possible
